US Central Command (CENTCOM) has conducted a series of strikes against weapon caches and
logistic nodes linked to Iranian-backed proxy forces in Syria. The strikes are almost certainly in
response to a 12 November rocket attack on a US base in Hasakah province, believed to have been
conducted by Iranian-aligned groups. There is a realistic possibility that tit-for-tat strikes will continue
to escalate until the inauguration of Donald Trump, who has hinted at a full US withdrawal from Syria.
